Customized programs for teenagers, adults, children and families, schools and preschools, and universities and art academies focused on contemporary art.
Museum Abteiberg’s approach to learning is based on the idea of “activating the act of looking.” It follows an ideal formulated in 1968 by Mönchengladbach museum director Johannes Cladders in his vision for the Antimuseum: the walls of the Antimuseum are permeable to the world.* The art space is situated within the world of its visitors. The relationship between art and the present should be central to the visitor experience, encompassing the latest contemporary art as well as the classical avant-gardes and art of the postwar period.
The museum offers programs for a range of audiences and welcomes individual requests. In addition to guided tours and gallery talks for adults, teenagers, children, and families, the museum offers customized workshops and seminars for schools, universities, and art academies.
Museum Abteiberg develops its learning program in close collaboration with artists, students of art and art history, and researchers from a range of disciplines. The program engages with social issues and current developments in contemporary art.
